Boston Venue Spotlight: Boston Public Library Microweddings

Have you ever fantasized about being Belle in Beauty and the Beast, surrounded by books in a grand library all to yourself? That fantasy isn’t far from reality at the Boston Public Library.
As avid readers and storytellers with a business name that conjures memories of childhood fairy tales, we consider getting married in the Boston Public Library to be peak levels of romance! In our sentimental opinion, it’s poetic to begin your marriage and tell your love story in a beautiful sanctuary full of stories, so we had to share the 1-Hour Wedding Ceremony experience that the BPL is offering.
While the Boston Public Library is known for their luxury weddings and gala events, they created an accessible microwedding experience that’s perfect for these financially turbulent times. Their 1-hour ceremony experience was a hit ever since they launched during the summer of 2022 and it’s only growing in popularity!
Instead of getting married at City Hall, many Bostonians are choosing this affordable yet iconic option. For $200, you, your partner, your officiant, photographer, and 12 guests have access to the Guastavino Room. The natural light, high ceilings, fireplace, and book-lined balcony overlooking the space makes this venue and their 1-hour wedding ceremony experience one-of-a-kind!
If you’re interested in booking this space for your elopement or microwedding, mark your calendars for the first business day of the month; that’s when the Boston Public Library releases select Monday appointments 90-days in advance. On the day of your wedding, their on-site event coordinator will escort you and your guests from the library’s grand entrance to the Guastavino Room. Twelve seats are arranged in front of the marble fireplace flanked by faux floral arrangements, where you will say ‘I DO’ to the next chapter of your lives as married partners in adventure.
The BPL even provides a security guard posted right outside the space for maximum privacy. Their Monday appointments begin at 9:15 AM and if you’re lucky enough to secure that spot, you can take photos all over the Boston Public Library before it’s open to the public by booking their private photography sessions for an additional $750. Email events@bpl.org as soon as you’ve secured that first Monday morning appointment with a request for a private photography session.

With a private photography session, you can capture your first look at the courtyard or in the book stacks and have fun with your photographer as you galavant around the Boston Public Library before you’re officially pronounced married! Without a private photography session, you still have the opportunity to take breathtaking photos in the Guastavino Room for the entirety of your designated hour.
As bilingual wedding officiants based in Boston and NYC, we are honored to share your story in a way that genuinely reflects your relationship, journey, and personalities! If you’re library lovers, like we are, chances are you understand how important every public library is to its community, especially in today’s political climate. By getting married at the Boston Public Library, not only are you beginning your marriage in a beautiful space with an incredible team to guide you, you are showing your love and support for public libraries very directly. That, in and of itself, is a love-filled act of resistance during this regime. Kudos to you!
