This summer we celebrated three couples during our fifth annual Pride Grows in Brooklyn event, which is our annual wedding and event services giveaway for queer folx planned and executed by a diverse group of progressive, socially conscious, and impact driven wedding pros.
Among the lucky winners this year were Reign and Charlotte, who wanted to include a few thoughtful elements to their ceremony. They chose to have a Moment of Rememberance as well as a Land Acknowledgement for loved ones and ancestors, honoring indigenous people and queer elders who’ve paved the way for their love to exist and grow into the colorful beacon of love-filled light.
Their community showed up with an outpouring of support and raucous cheers before, during, and after their Pride Grows in Brooklyn wedding ceremony.
Here’s an excerpt from their ceremony.
As descendants of native folx - the children’s children’s children and so forth of the Black and Indigenous diasporas of the Americas, Africa, and Asia - we hold space for all the love stories and fertile co-creations that had to take place across the generations! We give thanks to all the life journeys that had to happen - to all the people from Puerto Rico and Haiti - that had to find their way to one another in order to finally bring Charlotte and Reign into being.
We remember the strength and resoluteness of the Haitian people’s history - the Black led revolution against colonialism that came together to become a self-governed nation. We harness their revolutionary love energy - thank them for it and send it back to the Haitian people of today.
We pair it with that same kind of community love that led to the moment in NYC history that we’re proud to celebrate - the day when our Trans and Queer elders - our Drag Queens and Kings - our rainbow siblings trying to have a little fun in the hole-in-the-wall, mob-boss owned Stonewall pub decided they’d had enough and changed the course of our queer history - our AMERICAN QUEERSTORY.
We are honored to be among the founding members of the Pride Grows in Brooklyn microwedding giveaway experience for LGBTQIA+ partnerships. As LGBTQ-embracing wedding officiants in Brooklyn and Boston, we celebrate all love with a personalized wedding ceremony that reflects the heart of your story.
